How It Works
Get started with a free 15 minute consultation. Complete a brief form below or email email@example.com to get started. Once you submit your request, you will receive a follow up email to schedule a free 15 minute consultation with Dr. Alyson Kaneshiro, CEO and founder of Learning Specialist LLC. This is a great way for people to determine if coaching is the right choice for them.
At this meeting, the coaching relationship starts and expectations are co-created between the client and coach. WHAT TO EXPECT The coach will conduct a semi-structured interview that gathers information about client preferences and experiences that will allow the coach to design a personalized coaching program focused on shared goals.
The standard coaching program includes sessions that are 50 minutes long, happen weekly over the course of 6-12 sessions at minimum. Coaching sessions happen in-person or online depending on the clients preferences. Typically executive function and equity coaching clients prefer online coaching and educational therapy clients prefer in-person coaching. Please note that in-person services are limited to the Oakland, CA area and incur an additional fee per session. At Learning Specialist LLC, the coaching program is customized to meet our clients needs. Some new clients wish to have bi-weekly meetings for the first four to eight sessions to allow the coach and client to build their relationship more rapidly. These schedule customizations are available for new and existing clients.
At Learning Specialist LLC, we celebrate the fact that each individual person learns and grows at different rates. Clients will receive regular updates about their progress towards meeting their coaching goals through session summaries emailed at the end of every session. Clients may also request a verbal update that can be included as part of a coaching session (typically mid-way or at the end of a coaching program). While each client progresses at their own pace, there are some emergent patterns that can help inform our coaching timeline. For example, it is typical for our executive function clients to benefit from a coaching package that lasts for at least 1-2 semesters during their school year. Student clients sometimes sign on for another coaching program the following year if their workload is projected to increase and new executive function goals need to be worked on. Equity coaching clients tend to need a minimum of 4-6 sessions to achieve their goals, which are often centered around work projects that have variable timelines. Each client is different and we can create a custom coaching program to meet our clients needs.
Sessions start at $180 and the cost includes: ~ 50 minutes of coaching ~ 30-60 minutes for the coach to prep sessions, process notes, and write/share summaries. Online coaching starts at $180 and in-person coaching starts at $200 per hour.
Dr. Alyson Kaneshiro provided consulting services to develop a set of strategies for an adult student seeking higher education. Alyson identified effective learning tools that the student could choose from to best support their learning goals. This enabled the student to spend more time practicing helpful strategies that boosted their learning instead of wasting time on trial and error with ineffective tools. Alyson was also wonderful to work with, and made sure we were in regular communication about progress towards meeting our shared goals. I highly recommend working with her.
